sweet deal
i picked up a set of axles for my truck tonight, from a guy i know who is into the junk buisness. got a sterling 10.25 ls with 4.10s and the dana 60 to match complete brakes drag links everything. and the best part cost me $100 for everything, pluse i had to pull all four leaf springs for him. but i got to use his bobcat to trip the truck on its side and his torches to pull everything. i also have a question though, how much are my old dana 60 and sterling worth? they are both in good shape, no noises and king pins are tight they are 3.55 gears.

I have 4.10's and I would like get a 3.55's for better mpg's. If you find out how much they are worth, I might be interested in the sterling, or maybe just the gears.

The Sterling rear axle can usually be had for around 400 from salvage yards.
The Dana 60 front axle complete would bring about 1000 dollars here again at a salvage yard.
Different areas of the country, the prices will vary considerably.

Many people prefer the king pin over the ball joint axles.
I know the mud truck and rock crawler crowd all want king pin axles, part of the reason they get so expensive when looking for one.
Then there are people like me that want the 60 after they break the 44 or 50 that came in their 250 enough times to say enough is enough.

I regeared my truck from 4:10 to 3:55 last year with a junk yard axle. I was expecting to get $100 or so for the old 10.25, but I had no takers on craigslist.
Finally, I got sick of looking at the old axle and posted it on CL for free. After a week of answering emails, and still looking at the axle, I decided to scrap it.
So, for me, in the Seattle area, a used 10.25 with 4:10 gears was worth $13.85 at Arrow Metals.
