Is your '09 SCrew 5.5' or 6.5'

It is my generic observation that a majority of the '09 SCrews have the 6.5' bed, which is in stark contrast to the previous models that seemed to be mostly 5.5'. I was just wanting to get some numbers on here to see if there's any truth to my observation.

I think the 6.5 is so popular this time around as it makes the screw look so balanced. i like the shorter bed in the pre 09's though.

well i noticed that my local dealer get mostly cc with the 5.5 bed and all of the sc with the 6.5

i don't think ford really pushes bed size, i think dealer just get what sells best in there area

I cant really understand why anyone would want the 5.5ft bed if they had the means to get the 6.5.

I am looking at the 5.5 in the Crew because 1) its cheaper and 2)with the new flat load floor, the back of the cab would have a lot of storage space to make up for the 1ft of lost space in the bed.

But again, if you could afford it, I dont know why youd go for the lesser length of the bed.

Ive got the 6.5ft now and somedays I wish I had the 8ft bed lol

5.5 just barely fits in the garage. 6.5 no go.

I always thought the 5.5 made the '04-'08 look VERY well balanced. Still undecided on it on my current '09.

not everone buys a truck for just hauling stuff in the bed. some buy it for towing and shorter truck is easyer to drive in the city also for some fiting in a grarge is imported too

i haven't found anything that won't fit in my 5.5 ft bed, and big deal if the tailgate has to be down, for most loads in the 6.5 bed the same is true

the 5.5ft bed works for me that why i got it . the most i haul is fire wood or gravel which bed size isn't a issue becuase you 'll go over your weight limt first

If you put a tool box in the bed as many do, a 5.5 foot all of a sudden has very little room.

for at least the first 2 years of the prior model the 5.5 was the only bed available on a super crew.

I had to go 6.5 my toy box holds all my toys but a quad. The 5.5 won't hold a quad with the tail gate up. (I refuse to stand my quad up not my thing if I can avoid it). Can't pull my trailer with the tail down. I would not have purchased if 5.5 was the only option it would have been super duty at that point.

Same with me. I could of got the 6.5 in the garage, but I would have to walk on the bumper to get to the other side.

well i also looked up the cost of bed 5.5 is free as its the start off point, it 300 for the 6.5 bed and 1300 for the stepside

but like most people will say you buy the truck you want. and you get the bed size you need

I have to stop getting new trucks. Each time I do the bed gets shorter. Went from a 00 supercab with the 6.5' to an 08 Silverado crew cab with must be a 5 3/4. When I bought the 09 F150 crew cab I had couldn't get the 6.5' bed since it wouldn't fit where I need to park in the garage. I went with the 5.5' only to find out it's smaller then the Silverado was. My mountain bike barely fits laying down. ugh. I would gladly give up space in the rear cab to get back to either the 5 3/4' or at least a 6'.

I should also add this time around I see more 6.5' beds on the lots. When I was looking in 08 finding a 6.5' bed was hard since everything on the lots were 5.5'. More people must be wanting the longer bed due to seeing more of them on the lots this time around.

A couple dealers told me (not that it means anything) that the 145" wb is the most common configuration. My 157" (6.5 ft bed) won't fit in my garage, but the dirt bikes will fit in the bed.

So I guess I need to get a bigger garage.
