Limited slip noise normal??

Mines a 94 f250 with factory limited slip. When backing up i get a little chatter from the rear diff. I've heard from some thats normal but I'd like to ask for more opinions.

thanks for the help

It sounds like maybe it needs to be serviced and fresh fluid and the friction modifier added.

It shouldn't chatter alot. Doing this may fix it. If you have LS the fluid is supposed to be changed more often than with a regular differential.

The LS diff itself should be dead silent. It's common for some of the taps on the clutch disks to break off and you don't want big pieces of metal floating around in there so best to take the cover off and have a look.

It was kinda funny, my new to me truck had just this one flaw, and the rear diff cover had a seep. I pulled the cover everything looked ok (as though i'd know if it weren't) , got the special lube from the local dealer. now its as quiet as can be.

thanks for the advice!!
