I am going to pull the valve covers and re-torque the hold downs and pedastal bolts/ inspect harnesses and such. I have had a noise in one cylinder on my engine for about 9 months now. I have had the codes checked several times with CC test and tick test, nothing pops up, but there is definitely a tick/clatter noise especially at colder temperatures. The noise is not always there, only 80% of the time. I am wondering if I have a bent rod. Does anyone have pics, description of removeing the rods, I am guessing it is pretty straight forward.
My gut tells me that its an injector giving me problems, is there a way to figure out which one it is even, since they pass all the tests?
I run Valvoline 15-40 HD Deisel oil during the summer and Valvoline 10-30 during the winter.

Thanks, I actually just ordered one from clay, hopefully that will quiet her down a down a little. Does anyone know what the cost is on a HPOP mod, say to a double pump? I suppose if I do that, I should do different injectors also, damn $$$$

The crackle you hear is the dead head design of the drivers side fuel rail. #8 injector doesn't get enough fuel and it has a knock to it. Duel HPOP will not fix the issue, a regulated return or Crackle cure kit will. Having Duel HPOP may help insure that the injectors get enough oil and a HPX will help with some engine noise, but not completely.
