big time trouble...
i have a serious problem with my 86 f150 4x4. the master cylinder has begun to tear away from the firewall. as i press in on the clutch, the firewall flexes and the cylinder pushes away from the body, the result is that shifting, espically into first is almost impossible. originally i thought the problem was the clutch, so i changed it...to no avail as i discovered the real problem. it appears the two bolts that hold the master cylinder to the firewall have ripped through the body, i'm temporarily using large washers to keep the thing attached, what can i do....is it possible to change to a linkage style clutch...what about a automatic trans....please help....thanks, rich.

I have seen some of the other guys on here comment about a TSB on this problem. I think there is a fix available from Ford in the form of a bolt-on plate that reinforces this area. What about it guys?

Your right Ford does have a bolt on plate to solve this problem. Not sure of the cost . I think it would be a easy fix with a welder and a drill to make a plate, to reinforce the fire wall
