C4 to AOD

Ok let's try this again without hitting the return key to soon...

I am considering changing out my C4 for and AOD to hopefully get a little better gas milage so I can drive my truck more... Any one done this tranny swap and what kind of problems should I expect?

C4 to AOD

this is a great swap. make sure to get the driveshaft and shifter if possible. also get speedo cable, because gears will not necessarily be the same.
i did this in a friends
54f100 and it really helped driveability and mileage.
also check to see how kickdown is setup, some have switches instead of cables or rods. i'm not sure of what years, but i think it coincides with efi vs. carb setup.

If you want to upgrade/bulletproof that AOD check out http://www.artcarr.com/ They're the experts on the non-electronic version of that box and can tell you what years/models to look for as a donor (it DOES make a difference) and what mods are necessary to make it live comfortably behind your 351.

Thanks guys... will take a peek at the website... gonna have to wait until it warms up (yeah, it even gets a little cold in southern Alabama)a bit to tackle this anyway so I have time to investigate..
