setting up an ls diff

my truck is sportin the one wheel peel right now. Its so easy to break the one tire loose it isnt even fun anymore. Ive never set up a differential but im willing to learn. If i buy a factory ls unit it will bolt directly in place of the open diff correct? And since my 4.10 gears are fine I dont have to mess with the pinion im hoping. It would be awesome if i could just use a dial indicator to test the side to side movement. I dont really know what im doing here so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome. The lone shop around here rips me everytime and i hate taking my truck to them, so i would like to do this myself if possible.
thanks
jacob
