well its time i look into a loan. im wanting to get a 10 grand loan so i can work on the truck and build it at school. heres what i have planned. built trans, studs, stage 2 sticks from Jim, TW, D66, and HPOP. am i missing anything?
Don't get a loan to build a car or truck.... Only if it needs fixing and is your daily driver should you get a loan...
I would have to strongly agree. Spend it when you have it or you could be spending more to fix major problems that may arise while still making payments on a truck that is worth a lot less than the loan value.
Yes do not get the d66 for II's. Get an H2e or similiar turbo for use with II's.
If that is your budget and you are sticking to your guns I have some suggestions. I however would never take a loan to mod a truck. You will NEVER get the money back you spent on it. The truck will be worth less than the loan value, etc. etc. etc. yada yada yada.
For tranny I would go BTS. $4000
For modded turbo H2e $3000
Sticks from Jim Allow for $1000 incase they need work.
Electric fuel $1000
That doesn't leave much for the studs and girdle
You still will need a good HPOP system. Most run above $2000 for a good one.
ten grand is not all that much when you look at the grand scheme of what is required to build one of these trucks. The tranny is the most expensive but it is also the weakest link.
Personally I would take your time and build it as you have the finances. Otherwise you may get most of the way done but not finished and then you have a loan for something that is not done and maybe not drivable. Personally I would get a loan and put it down on some property or a house. Much better investment.
True about the girdle. But If I were in the bottom end putting main studs in I would go ahead and girdle it anyway. The studs on the heads are pretty much all that would be needed but he didn't specify which studs.
I spoke with Bob Riley about the adrenaline and he said it is mainly for stage I's but can possibly run II's but it is on the upper end of it's range. He did not recommend me to use the adrenaline at all with my 180 cc II's. He does have an overdrive in developement still and it will go for $1000 that is an option I am considering.
The H2e can be had for cheaper also for about $2000 but not modified and you still need to come up with a cooler pipe as that kit only comes with one. Also you will need an intercooler if you want to be able to run it for any length of time. Coole ris not necessary if you want a drag strip truck but this will be a daily driver as I understand it.
If it were me spending the bux, I'd get a modded 17° pump from Terminator Engineering, 238cc hybrids, H2E turbo, 910 valve springs and head studs. Should put you in the 450-500 hp range and make a hell of a strong running truck with the right tuning.
That sounds like a pretty good combination.
It will all depend on what the OP intends to do with the truck. Race, DD, Tow.
238's would be too much for towing. IMO.
That setup would be a great DD and very strong.
hey Neal... id definetly trust your word over the website, but as far as stage 2's and the Adrenaline goes according to the website it would work, unless im reading it wrong....
"The Adrenaline is the perfect high pressure oil solution for any injector setup. Although built for the Hybrid 530s and split shot stage IIs to supply the oil they couldn't get from their stock pump, The Adrenaline pump works for any injector size including stock."
its from dieselsite...
I think you just need the air to go with them. If you are running hybrids on a stock turbo then you're hosed, but pair them with a good turbo like the 38R or a modded H2E and they should be fine.
If I were you I would try and slow down my PMS. You're young and in school why do you want to worry about a 10 grand loan? I would think your truck runs pretty good now so I would wait like some other guys here said. I spent way too much on my race car when I was young and in ways I'm still paying for it. If I would have just saved the money I would have saved thousands in the long run (interest on loans). You live and learn so think hard about it.
If you are going to get a loan, use it as backup money, not to use on your truck.
Your going to be able to do lots of cool stuff there where your going. I'd make my own traction bars and stuff, not order them. Gotta learn someplace! and when you got free tools and floor time, go for it!
I'm thinkin about using radius arms out of newer style 150's. I"m not sure if they are long enough yet. Gotta measure my dads, but they are way longer then the older style like my f150. Which i still havn't found my damn gloves.
Trying to grind out the reciever. haha.
