steering column

i found a steering column in real good shape and same year as mine. the only difference it is a diesel truck. is that a problem ,my concern is the wiring harness .

the column is the same. the wiring difference is in the truck, not the column.

steering column

thanks for the help.one more question,i never pulled a column before.i unpluged all the wiring and unbolted the bracket under the dash. the column will slide out a little then stop,what else needs to be removed.

under the hood at the steering box, there is a bolt that goes through the column locking it into the input shaft of the steering box.

and if it is an automatic truck, make sure the wheels are chocked front and rear to prevent the truck from rolling. do not trust the parking brake. because the truck WILL roll, and if it rolls backwards, the driver side door WILL make contact with something, rendering the door useless.

and don't ask me how i know this.

well i finally got it out. thanks a lot for the help.i have only been on this forum for a little while and yall have save me a bunch of time and money and have learned a lot.thanks.as soon as i figure out how to send pictures i will post one of my truck.

manage to do this on my 96 rolled truck off car dolly nobody in drivers seat. door caught on rear bumper of junk bmw at the shop and walla door touching front tire. boss got a kick out of it. drove that thing for a week in he inter without a door till we got the new one.lol
