Oops ccv mod

So I pulled into the driveway today and noticed oil pouring out between the engine and trans. I popped the hood to find oil coming out of the dipstick too. The hose somehow got pinched so the case couldn't breathe. Do you guys think I did any damage to the seal or whatever is behind the bell housing or am I ok, and I should just watch it real close. On a side note what are you guys doing for all the smoke when the ccv mod is working correctly because mine smokes like crazy. Thanks again I love this place.

When I did mine I put a plastic hose connector in where I attached it to the frame, that way it wouldnt get crushed. Also mine is just vented to the atmosphere and it doesn't smoke all that much not even on a long road trip or heavy haul.

Mine has been on awhile, I just canfigure out how it got kinked. It wasn't kinked enough to stop all flow but certainly decreased it.

the only way to find out is to use simple green and wash your engine and trans. add oil and check for leaks again...
the posibility to blow the seals is always there .... i hope this is not your case...

Man, I feel like a tard muffin now..... The truck finally cooled down enough for me to really take a look and the oil is traveling down the dipstick and over the oilpan right to the trans. Problem solved. Thank you guys for some replies.

Now what do I do about the smoke coming out of the hose? It is a large white cloud when I come to a stop and then start going again. Thanks

how old is you oil? and what grade synt dino?
my 7.3 would smoke like a train out of CCV with synt Sheaffers 5w40, and with Rotella 15w40 was perfectly normal, and very little to no smoke...
so might be a type of oil you are using too....
good luck

when you remove oil cap does it smoke a lot out of it too? lots of smoke out of CCV indicates blowby, not a good thing , but not horrible. did that just started after your CCV got kinked? might be blown turbo seal. or somthing, this is what would cause 7.3 to do it too.
now is the smoke stedy? like puf puf puf
or just when you step on it. and
is it a whitish- grayish smoke
or black?

The smoke has come out of the ccv for atleast 2 years now. The smoke is steady at idle(no more then a match burning) and is bairly noticable. When I drive it and come to a signal and I start going again, I get a large puff of white smoke the size of a geo metro and then it goes away until the next stop. The truck only has 43000 miles on it and it's second home is the dealership.

I don't see any smoke coming out of the oil cap at idle.

A few years back and I have taken it in and out as I have gone to the dealership. Within that time the EGR has been changed and the turbo has been changed also. Both of those have been less then a year since they were changed. Those would make perfect sense to me but the smoke is coming out the ccv tube. When the EGR and turbo failed I had the same white smoke out the tailpipe.

I would go to powerstrokehelp.com and contact Bill Hewitt and explain your problem. I wouldn't be surprised if he's seen this issue before. Another thing you can do is take the oil filler cap off and put your hand just above the filler to check for pressure venting from the crankcase through the filler. Sure sounds like you're getting excess crankcase pressure. The causes I can think of aren't good (i.e., cracked piston or broken compression ring(s)). But then again, if it were one of these, I would think you would have had more serious issues by now. Let us know what you find out.

Thanks, when I put my hand over the oil filler cap you can feel air but it doesn't seem to be excessive. Thanks again.
