Hello, well today went to pick up the truck, seems to run good and quite pleased with it, one question for you all is the trip computer is very dull and it is hard to see the display, is there any way of making it brighter or is this telling me something is going wrong with it?
Here's hopng that someone know something about the trip computer yesterday it was hard to see today I cannot see anything, what can go wrong with these things, can it be fixed or do they have to be replayed?
I don't know where the link is, but there have been issues with the overhead trip computer. I don't know if it includes a dim display, but I know that they can conk out. This is due to some of the internals, which can be fixed. If you do a search for "trip computer" (in the title only) in the 1999-2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel forum, there are a lot of threads about it.
Thank you Brian, it seem that it could be a Circuit board or as you say it has had its day and needs to be replaced, oh well, only pick the truck up yesterday from the dealer so it is still good for 30days under warranty, hope this is not an omen of what is to be. 2004 F250 diesel Lariat.

It shouldn't be. Super Duties are tough trucks, especiallly the diesels. Next time you drive around count how many Super Duties you see compared to Chevy's and Dodge's (especially work trucks like contractors, tow trucks, flat beds, etc.) and you will see you made a good choice!
The trip computer on mine was iffy (in and out) when I bought mine, so I made the dealer "fix" it before I took delivery. He swore up and down he could repair it (I knew he couldn't) so had no problem fixing it. Turns out he couldn't, and had to bite the $180 for a new unit and install it for me.
If you have a 30 day warranty, I'd get over there and have them fix it. A new unit is fairly easy to replace, but it costs almost $200 retail from the dealership (I don't know the fleet price), and that's if they don't mark it up too.
