Engine swap advice

FNG here. Have a 94 150 I really like, 199,000 on original 302 engine, running good. E4OD trans replaced at 119. When I need to repower, should I consider a 351W/C6 combo or what would you do? E4OD may not be the best choice, I intend to tow but not real heavy. What will swap in & work with current electronics, FI system, etc? Any input/help appreciated!

Keep the E4OD and install a shift kit.
If the truck is mass air no other changes needed to use a 5.8, if not all you need is a matchng computer.
Also consider a gearing swap to 3.73-4.10 depending how much you want to tow.

It's MA. Should I just stay w/ the 302 or is the 351 an easy upgrade, like require changes to the FI unit, etc? Thought the E4OD was a "120,000 mile" & done trans, not so?

351 is a direct swap as long as you have a complete 5.8EFI to put in. Engine mounts are the same, exhaust has to be widened slightly, it requires a 28oz flexlate instead of the 50oz version on the 5.0. Otherwise it plugs right into your existing wiring harness.

What/Who gave you that idea?

Ford dealer parts dept & an indep mech. My 1st one only made 119.
So the 5.8 needs a different FI unit? If so, maybe I'd be better off staying w/ the 5.0 & do headers or something mild. Tks for all the help/suggestions. What shift kit do you like for the E4?

no what he is trying to say is install the entire motor with the added accessories already installed-like out of a junk yard or a donor truck-my E4od made it to over 200 k

Appreciate the feedback, but since I intend to keep this truck I will probably do a reman long block. Looks like if I swap, I would have to get the 5.8 FI setup, more bucks/hassle. The 302 is "enough", any trailer I pull would probably not exceed 5K, like maybe a 25' camper gutted out for a workshop. Suggest a shift kit or other mods for more poop/minimal hassle ?
