No more rattles!

Finally got around to doing the door rubber mod.

I used the 3/8" foam backer rod and completed all four doors in about an hour. Reduced road noise some (still a little noisy from the MT's) but what I noticed the most was... no more rattles when going over bumps, cracks and potholes... ... feels and sounds like a new truck.

Definitely worth the time and cost (about $10 for 60' of foam)

Sorry Yellowsled but I am not good at documenting the things I do with pics and now that it's all buttoned up you can't see anything.

Simple procedure though... unsnap sill plate and pull rubber door seal off. Squirt some soapy water through the door seal opening from both ends (you'll see some leaking out from the small holes along its length). Run a small steel fish tape through and attach the foam with electrical tape to the it. Pull foam into the rubber cavity and leave approx. 2-3" at each end. Re-install rubber on truck and trim excess foam where the two ends meet. Snap the sill trim plate back on and your done... move on to the next door.

Baji, I bought the foam backer rod at Home Depot. It's in the section where they have the weathwer stripping.

You'll need about 15' per door... I didn't do the rear hatch yet but I would by another 30' package for it.

Do the doors shut with about the same effort as they required before the mod?

There is no noticable difference in door closure. What I did notice though is once door is closed, I can't push it in any further which I could do before the mod.
