A quick thought....rant....

Pointed at no-one here, just the knuckle-headed C Lister's who ask for pics then decide it is to far to drive to look at, but then ask if you would take 1500 cash?!?!?! Are you for friggin real?!?!? I mean, aside from the lowball offer,,,, what else do people buy things with now a days OTHER than C A S H ?!!?! Gold bullion,,, carbon credits,,, global lies and hypocrisy,,, I mean really, when they say "Well, I have cash,,,," and I say "Good for you, so do I,,," Did I miss some new currency coming out in the last year or so that I am not aware of?!

These are my 2 trucks for sale,,, in MY opinion, they are priced right, and they are NOT $1500 trucks..... to borrow from Mr. Bill O'Reilly (spelling?)

I feel your pain. Among other things, I sell cars for a living. This is the most rotten selling environment I've seen in the last 30 years. "Buyers are liars" has never been more true. Have faith, my friend, your truck is a very nice example and you will find the right person that will pay you what you want, and enjoy it for a long time to come.

I called Joe, didn't say who I was up front...and then left a message sayin' "Wood'ja take $1500 for the 66, it's all the cash I've got."

After sayin' that, I told him not to hang up, cuz it was little ol' me.

Why are you giving away your 66, thats a nice truck. I would guess it would be worth more than $2800. I sure hope my 65 Custom Cab is worth more than that. Both of your trucks are great looking trucks. I would think that you have about $8K to $10K worth of trucks there. Where I live if it starts and moves forward its worth $1500 to $2500. I hope you get what your asking at least.

I'm with JRB65 I would not sell that 66 for that price, it's worth a lot more than what you have it priced for. Put more documentation in your advertisment and pictures. Let them oogle over it and tell them firm with no tire kickers. These vehicles are starting to go up in price, if not as a collector, as a custom truck.

I had a knucklehead try to low ball me on a house one time. The realtor was so upset at the offer he wanted me to raise the price of the house. Maybe you should do the same, when he comes back to buy the truck he'll find it higher and wish he hadn't tried to be funny.

My 65 cost more than that 7 years ago....... + both my trucks are appraised at hundreds more than your asking. 3500-4000 sound better to you? there worth it!

Good luck with the sale.

Consider this fellow members:

Our economy is in the toilet, new vehicle sales are almost as bad as they were in 1933/34, the worst two years of the Great Depression for auto sales.

GM and ChryCo both went bankrupt. GM has canceled Pontiac, found suckers...er buyers for SAAB, Saturn, Hummer and Opel/Vauxall.

Bottom Line: Not too many ppl are buying any vehicles, especially old rides.

You are correct, I liked Pontiac it's a shame they will be going. Maybe they can buy themseleves away from GM and start all over again. I think that people are still buying olds rides look at the people buying at the big auctions. I think that people are worried about buying a vehicle from a company that may not be able to support the warranty that came with it. I was in Redmond, Oregon and looked over and saw the Chevrolet dealership, a vacant lot. What were they thinking, if the dealerships are independantly owned and the dealers buy the cars, what are they out. You woud think that the more dealers out there, the more dealers buying their cars, the more money they make.

What's the top selling automaker in the US? Toyota.

How many dealers do they have? Less than 2000.

GM, before going bellyup, up had over 6,000.

Ford has bought out over a thousand un-productive dealers in less than two years...that includeds 21 here in LA LA Land.

Uh...Another bit the dust last month, so make that 22.

Today, there are too many vehicles choices for too few people.

In the old days, the reverse was true. After WWII ended, GM, Ford and Chryco signed up 1000's of dealers. Many were used car dealers, and garages.

When times got tough in 1957/58 ("You auto buy now was the slogan"), many folded the tent, but by 1965, sales improved, the Big 3 signed up 1000's more.

GM, Ford and ChryCo have failed to change with the times.

With so many dealers, all the Big 3 automakers have to offer BIG rebates. The dealers competing with one another, causes too much competition.

Killing off dealers improves the situation....at least that's the theory.

The major problem was badge engineering. If Chevy offered something, the Pontiac dealer wanted one, so did Buick, Olds and Cadillac.

Ditto with Ford and ChryCo. Look at the Buick Enclave...there are Saturn, Chevy and GMC versions. Who's gonna buy all of them? By the sales figures, not many.

What model of Mercury or Lincoln today is not a Ford under the skin? EVERY one of them is.

Hmmm, ok I see what your saying. With Ford the only hold out on the borrow money and go bankrupt option, how do you think they fair?

With credit so tight, GM and ChryCo couldn't borrow any money to stave off bankruptcy.

What about Ford? In 2005, Ford put up ALL the company assets, including the rights to the Blue Oval to obtain a 23.8 Billion Dollars loan...to stave off bankruptcy.

Which means that...Ford is mortgaged to the hilt.

If sales don't improve by 2010, Ford will be next in line holding their hat out, as they have enough "automotive cash" to...barely...last that long.

People are hurting and scared about getting a new vehicle. They are worried about having a job to go to and making a house payment. I don't think cash for clunkers is really going to help anyone. They need to make more vehicle like the new Mustang a retro look that everyone likes with a price that won't break them. Wasn't the original Mustang priced low to sell a volume of them?
