Ok so Im all loaded up to head out to Florida for a job last saturday morning and just as I am leaving the gas station the engine dies then it restarts but dies again within a few seconds its not sputtering its flat like someone cut the power to it so after several minutes it starts again but will only run about 30 seconds before it dies again so I have it towed to the shop and they have had it since they tried an ignition module then a distrubitor no luck now they want to replace the ecm but there isnt one to be found in the whole damned country does anyone have any other possible solutions for this problem the truck has had major tune recently. It is a extra cab 4x4 351 e4 tranny.
277k on the odo. Now they suggest that I take it to the stealership and let them diagnose it. I think with a complicated problem I want the shop paid for the diagnosis to do the repair so when it doesnt fix the prob I cant be blamed for not preforming the repair properly
What does "no codes to pull" mean? Does that mean that the light wasn't on so they didn't bother? Or that the computer gave 11 (pass) codes for all three tests?
There are a couple possible causes of the problem you describe, one of which was a failing ignition module which they already tried. The other is loss of power to the fuel pumps or EEC, this could be from a worn out ignition switch or corroded wiring on the power relays.
