I have a 03 7.3 f250 4x4. I'm unable to pin point where its leaking from. I've got some oil on the head thats leaking down the back side of the motor and dripping on the driveway. Not sure what else to type so fire away with the questions and I will answer them the best I can. Check the engine valley up top between the heads front to back. Usually oil leaks develop from the HPOP lines, CAC tubes and/or the turbo pedestal. Also, make sure it's oil and not fuel that is picking up oil residue. Fuel leaks develop right around the fuel filter housing.
Without sounding to incompitant, where exactly am I looking. I do see the oil but there is very little room to actually see anything. Is there an area I should be concentrating on looking at?
These areas are very tight to see into with out mirrors and flashlights. First thing you need to do is claen up. Get some engine bright or gumout and wet the areas down with it. Take care not to get electrical components wet/soaked(alternator) Follow directions on can. Rinse areas off with water. Right behind you fuel filter area there will be the HPOP lines. You might get oil from there but it will be when the engine is running. Onother common area is a the turbo. Get a mirror and get on top the motorYour knees WILL hurt! Mine leaked from the arm that extends from the left of the turbo. These are pedastal O-rings. Make sure you get the yellow ones if you do it yourself they seem to hold up better. If all else fails on finding the leak you can go to napa and get motor oil die. It's in a little bottle and you dump about half of it in your oil. With an ultraviolet light it shows up nicely. Good luck!
Here's a link that might shed some light on a possible leak area. It's for repairing the HPOP o-ring - common leak point for the 7.3's. Guzzle is a member here and his site is one you should bookmark for many reasons.
