gas tank straps
I'm in the process of removing my truck's short bed and will be replacing the gas tank straps. The PO had what looks like a bunch of folded rubber sheeting (old cut up inner tubes?) between the straps and gas tank. What is a good way of cushioning the tank against the straps in either the original factory method or what any of you creative guys have come up with?

When I replaced my rear tank it had the rubber strips in there, so I'm pretty sure it's factory.
I used some camper seal weatherstrip. The adhesive on one side made it easier for me working alone to get it all back together.
