Some of you may recall the problems that followed my new injector install. Occassional loss of foot pedal responce, occasional wait to start light while driving, occassional buck while drivng. Well add to those a dead cylinder on cold starts. My buddy with a scanner and PS diesel knowledge finaly had time to take a look at the truck and pull codes. Other than a low oil pressure code during cranking which he said was due to the injector install the only other code was intermittent cam sensor signal. He said none of the symtoms pointed at the can sensor other than the occassional bucking but since I had my old reliable black one in the glove box, (saved from a -B CPS install) I put it back in and guess what ALL symtoms dissapeared. Switched the -B CPS back in disbelief and symtoms returned. Said it was a new one on him. Cannot make a connection to the new injectors other than circumstance but have never seen these type problems tied to the CPS. I hate threads with problems that dont end with problem fixed so thought I would post. So which CPS do I buy for a spare now??
Not many choices left for the spare CPS. Most of the -A's are gone, and those of us that have them are not going to let them go.
The bucking is a common thing with the CPS, but the WIF light typically doesn't flash. For grins, check the main engine wiring harness where it goes over the drivers side valve cover. If a wire there chaffes and shorts against the valve cover it can cause a buck with the WIF light, and it only leaves a P0603 code.
