Just curious when was the ZF tranny first built? I was reading a 1965 Popular Science last night. There was a piece about some Ford GT coupes being built by Shelby with 385 hp 289 V8s and they said it had a 5 speed ZF tranny. Could that be the same ZF as in 90s Ford heavy duty pickups?
???otto???
what? 351c not much better than a 351m? What planet are you from?
do you really own a Ford? The 351c was probably one of the best engines Ford produced. too good for the emmisions boys. It was killed by emmisions standards, not lack of demand.
1989 F-150 : 5.0, shorty headers, Flowmaster cat-back, K&N filtercharger intake, March pulleys, "Multi-brand" performance ignition, soon to be Mass-Air...doesn't know she's not a Mustang
As I understand it the 351c is more a racing engine and has its power band in a higher RPM range, which could be a bit cumbersome for everyday street driving, whereas the 351m has its power band in a lower RMP range more suited to a truck or regular street applications.
the 351M didn't have a powerband...LOL...
And it's true, the 351C breathed a little two well (especially wiht the 4v heads) but it was still an awsome performer.

BBT
PS I did drive some Ford van based busses for awhile that had the powerstroke turbo diesel however, and the mechanics disabled the electronic OD in most of them, so I had to listen to them rev to around 3,ooo Rpm on the freeway.
