Off-The-Wall ? - floor mat graphic

So I was looking at the mat in the floorboard. It's in our '66 250 4x4.

It looks like a gear with a lightning bolt.

What's up with that??

That was originaly the early 60s hood ornament for 6 cyl truck.
I love the design and was currious as to if the aftermarket replacement mats have it on them.

Sounds like it could be an original mat. Not aware of any aftermarket mats with the gear/lightening logo.

There are plain floor mats without the gear and bolt for standard cabs and the gear and bolt for custom cabs. The gear and bolt will also be embossed into the center of the vinyl seat back mid point in the middle of a ford crest. I have seen the gear on the hump, and also on each floor board depending on the year. For the two wheel drives in 65 Custom Cabs received a color matched mat that did not have the gear and bolt symbol.

NOS mats with the gear and bolt sell for obscene money...

No aftermarket supplier makes one with the correct embossing as the amount they could sell verses what Ford wants to license it is cost prohibitive. Hopefully one of the larger repop houses will step up to the plate and make them. I have only been waiting thirty five years......

I'll take one! Guess that's two (2). We probably only need another 19,998 orders to convince a supplier

My '61 regular cab had the gear/lightning bolts on the floor mat. As far as I know it was the original.

I thought the Dennis Carpenter ones had the logo. I guess that's not the case. Bummer. The gear/lightning bolt logo is really cool. It is what really sets the old trucks apart from the '67 and newer ones.

The gear and lightening bolt were used on base model 1966 trucks with 3 speed trans as well as 4WD...its factory correct...and ultra hard to find on in decent shape...I had a 66 that was originally a 3 speed and had the gear and lightening bolt...and it was also FE powered too...

I heard recently a rumour that Dennis Carpenter might have the gear/bolt repops. Be worth a call.

the gear and lightening was used on all 61-6 trucks in certain areas depending on the model and engine...

the gear and lightening bolt insignia was used in the following locations:
Hood Badge: 1961-4, all 61-4 F100-350, 1965 and 1966 with 6 cylinder engines.
Seat back upper center: 1965-66 Custom Cab trimmed trucks embossed in the vinyl.
Horn button: Base model trucks with cast horn button(2WD only as I recall)

Floor mat: center of trans hump at forward end. Used on Automatic and 3 speed column shift trucks. Base model only. Also used on 4WD trucks.
The floormats used on 65-6 trucks, for example, are the same on 2WD trucks with auto and 3 speed trucks...no tall trans tunnel like the 4 speeds with the removable tunnel cover. With the 4 speed shifters location, there is no room for the logo even if they wanted to put it in there...

I just looked, The mats they offer make no mention of the gear and lightening bolt. Additionally the replacement mats dont go all of the way up either side to the gas tank like originally.

As far as the seat goes, SMS Auto Fabrics can put the original embossed FORD and gear/bolt emblem in the vinyl (last I heard was an additional $75 bucks or thereabouts).

On the floormats, MAC's sells floormats that have the '100' crest sewn into them - looks like the cowl emblems. $105 for a set.

Just some additional ideas.
