I am going with the bds 4" all spring suspension lift but I am not putting their shocks on. I am going to go with the bilstien 5100 series and I am not sure whick ones to get they have ones for 0-4" lift and 3-6" of lift so which ones do I go with? Also can I use any manufacuters dual shock mount up front with these shocks because rough country has the mount kit for $89 and everyones else ranges from $150-250 and they all look like the same part it is the mount that just bolts to the frame up front.
The shorter shock may get maxed out in a full drop situation so I would use the longer shock. Your rebound snubber (and new springs) should keep the longer shock from fully compressing. I haven't seen the BDS dual shock mount but if it uses the stock three bolt frame (upper) mount and some sort of longer extension on the bottom mount AND it looks sturdy enough you should be fine.
I went with the Icon Dual Shock Hoop Kit because of it's additional bracketry making it hell for strong. And the hoops make a great location for STP stickers...
thanks x-hibition do you think it would be safer to just upgrade to the bds gas shocks instead the reason I really want to go with the bilstiens is because I am getting the dual bilstein steering stabilizer kit from top gun customz and I wanted them to match? and yeah the dual mount bracket is the three bolt one kinda of shaped like a diamond I just can't see spending $250 for a few bolts and a little piece of steel.
So you want the shocks to match. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I don't think you'll find anyone here say anything bad about the Bilstein, so that won't be a bad decision. I went to the BDS web-site and wasn't frightened by the shocks. I assume they are made for BDS by someone, as opposed to being built in house. Regardless, buy what makes you happy. Buy what saves you money. Buy what you want.
Your initial concern was shock length. You have an answer to that so go for it. If I go though Colorado and see you with mis-matched shocks I won't laugh. And who cares if I do?
And someday I'll post a picture of my duals. So you can see what you get with a few bolts and a little piece of steel...
