I was thinking it might be the crankshaft sensor, I had to order one it should be here tomorrow evening.

I will install that and adjust it and we will go from there.

Thanks again guys for all of your help!

I bought a new crankshaft sensor but there are no alignment instructions with the sensor, are there sussposed to be instructions?

Anyway could you provide me instructions on how to align this as the manual does not provide alignment instructions?

I already have the engine at TDC and the valves are all lined up as well.

I know I need to have the crankshaft pulley aligned with the 6 mm bolt that goes through the timing cover, but how is the alignment for the crankshaft sensor achieved?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

This is the procedure from the manual. It may not be what you want to hear,
3. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.

4. Remove the plug for the Crankshaft Timing Peg.

5. Install the Crankshaft Timing Peg and turn the crankshaft pulley bolt to position the number one cylinder at top dead center.

6. Remove the CKP.

7. Install the Timing Pin.

Installation

1. Install the CKP, but do not tighten the bolts at this time.

2. Adjust the CKP with the Crankshaft Position Sensor Alignment Jig and tighten the bolts.

3. Connect the CKP electrical connector.

4. Remove the Timing Pin.

5. Remove the Crankshaft Timing Peg.

6. Install the plug.

Ah there lays the problem. It is not apparent how to use the alignment tool and it does not fit on the CKP so I am still in limbo.

Thanks for the info.

I have not had to do this procedure yet. So I do not even no what the aligmant tool looks like. But from some research I did last night it would appear Ford has several alignment tools and I do not know which one fits yours / our application.

yes the book really needs to explain what the alignment tool should be doing.
