i just got a solid front axle out of a 77 high highboy. i need to know what it is so i can see if my parts from my dana 44hd ifs will interchange. the only thing on the axle is a big c on the diff. can anybody help?
You are asking for an ID, but give nothing to ID, Not a BOM number, not even a pic. Difficult to ID something in this fashion.
Is the 77 front axle the stock axle or has it been changed? If it is stock you will have a low pinion open knuckle D44 ( this is an considered and HD, and no other D44's are. Only highboys have axles that Dana recognized as HD). You mentioned a d44hd ifs, and this is not and never had anything HD about it. It is a high pinion TTB D44.
This axle does not share anything with your TTB 44 that can be interchanged. Well some brake parts and minimal hub parts, a couple of snap rings etc might be usable, but what are you trying to acconplish?
