I am in the market for a 69-75 ford pick up, but here's the catch. I want a quad cab (four actual doors), with a longbed (8 ft box at least). I don't care if it is running or not, just hopefully not tooo much cancer. or huge dents. basicallly if it hasn't been hit by a train or sat in the east coast rains for 10 years it will do. but first i have to know if those were even made to begin with. last question is... how hard would it be to buy a quadcab with a short bed and put a long bed onto it? would i need to extend the frame? thanks to any and all that can possibly help me out with this.
I belive that 67-72 trucks like these do exist...as well as the 73-79 flavor. You'll only find them with 3/4 or higher running gear. I have only seen a couple...not as common at the 4 door shortbeds. I belive all 4 doors were built in canada?.....I'm sure someone will step in to correct me if I'm wrong.
1967 to 1972 Crew Cabs came in many wheel bases. The common 4 x 4 F-250 has a short bed and is 149 inches axle to axle. The F-350 2 WD crew cabs were a 169 inch wheelbase, 20 inches longer! They came with either a Stepside or Styleside 8 ft. bed on them. This is what you probably want. I have a 69 that needs restoration I might consider selling. It is complete and is a Contractor Special with 47,000 actual miles and the original title. If interested, e-mail me..... Good Luck!
I know where a crew cab frame and drivetrain complete is setting. I aquired the cab and building up a truck as we speak with the cab but using modern drivetrain and a cummins conversion. This chasis is on tires just needs everythings on top 4wd long wheelbase frame 1969. drop me a PM if curious and it'll probably go cheap because the owner past away earlier this year and cleaning up the property.
My buddy has a '72 Hi-Boy 4x4 Crew Cab that was once a shortbed. I know they extended the frame around 20". He had issues with the dual tanks fitting right once it was stretched. Be careful where you cut to make your extension pieces because you can mess up where the bed bolts on. Here's a pic of his crew.

I like........My crew is also low miles so i dont want to cut and extend it. But is sure would look sweet with adaptors and 20 inch budds.
