5-Wheel Towing
Greetings,
I have purchased a 2009 F-250 Lariat 4x4, Fully loaded, 6.4L, V8 diesel, Torqshift 5-speed automatic, trailer towing package, 156" WB. It has a Trailer Brake Controller system, 10000 lbs GVWR package, Power trans (whatever that is)...and so on.
In the manufactures recommendation, it states I cannot exceed 15,300 lbs for the 5-wheel I am planning to purchase. Its weight, without additional load, is 13,000 lbs. The dealer said I would not be able to tow it. He said that their recommendation is to add 2000 lbs to the trailers weight, and that does not include what I would load into to it additionally.
Can anyone advise if I can tow this 5-wheel with this truck I just purchased for this reason, and not it not breakdown on me or blow up? Can I exceed the limited by 2000 lbs?
The total GACB (whatever letters it was) is 23000 lbs. It will be only me (220 lbs) and potentially a harley in the Raptor RV (361-TC)(5-wheel).

Wrong forum so you might want to ask the correct one, but you should be able to pull it ok. Just make sure you are not over 23,000 lbs total when it's all said and done. I would get it fully loaded and go by a truck stop and weigh the whole rig. It's not so much it won't pull it or handle it, but if you get in a accident, and you are over the total recommended weight, you could get in trouble and be liable. You know how lawyers are nowadays.
