My truck has had a slight vibration since i got it, before it had the lift. When accelerating it has a slight vibration shudder, sometimes worse on hard accl. and very bad if you give it throttle in reverse. It has been getting worse. At first i thought carrier bearing or something like that, but ive noticed that it changes with engine rpm. So now im thinkin somethin in the trans, because on the highway if you give it more throttle, but not enough to down shift, it gets worse as more "load" is applied. Im gonna do ujoints and carrier next week and probably get the drive shaft checked for balance, but dont know what else to try. thanx
it might be TC. check your driveshaft if you have all the welded weights on it. few people reported loosing them and that might cause a lot of vibration. if you have access to the lift maybe you can have it checked on it....
I have alredy shimmed the carrier bearing. But i dont think thats it because it did it before i put the lift on. And pete, when you say TC your ayin torque converter right? And if it is, what part of it would be failing and would it lead to total tranny failure?
yes TC is torque converter, i hearf from few guys that when sometimes TC goes bad it causes vibration, and yes it can bust your rear main seal and fubar the trans, i hope im wrong here... did you check the weights on the driveshaft to see if you have any of them missing?
I havent checked cuz ive been out of town, but i did drive it to work this morning and the vibration is become more of a shudder on takeoff if im not real easy on the throttle. Hopefully i'll have time to crawl under there today. thanx
