'97 Expy Rear passenger window problem

Hello All:
My rear passenger side window has gotten jammed in the closed position. I took the door panel off as I figured the window had come off its track. I could hear the mechanism moving up and down but the window would stay closed. When I went to lower the window by hand, I realized it was jammed tight. What has happened is that the small rubber strip on the outside edge got wedged into the track with the window as I was rolling it up. So, now, it looks like I will have to remove the small triangular window glass so I can access the rubber strip and loosen the main window. Does anyone know how to remove that small triangular glass from the rear door ? I did all kinds of searches in the forum but found no posts related to taking the glass off.

Many thanks for any help

I have had this happen on both of my rear door windows. It happened because the silicone in the brackets that hold the glass "let's go" of the glass and the window gets jammed and you enjoy what you are enjoying right now :-| I know how you feel

What I did was:

1. Remove the interior panel and the speaker
2. Raise the lifters so you can access the brackets and take the brackets off.
3. Lower the lifters all the way down
4. I used patience and about 1-2 hours of letting the door get beat by the sun to soften the rubber just enough to shimmy the glass back down
5. Once I got the glass happy I cleaned the brackets off so there was not old silicone 6. I then loaded them up with new silicone, raised the lifters and reinstalled them
7. Then I manually and slowly lowered the glass into the brackets by just pressing the glass down into the brackets
8. Once I did that I pressed it in real good then raised the window and turned on the window locks so I didn't ruin all my work before the silicone set. I let it sit for 24+ hours just to be sure.

Hope this helps!

Thanks much, jschoolf, for the actual steps required. My biggest problem currently is to get the glass out of the track. Did you take the glass out of the door, clean it and put it back ? I'm afraid of dropping and breaking it, so, I am inclined to simply clean the holding brackets, apply a fresh dab of silicone and follow your method.

Cheers
