I have an 1985 F250 XL with a 460 (7.5) Gas, the truck has duel tanks one in the back and one in the driver side of the bed. My fule pump is located under the driver side in one of the rails. the local shop does not seem to carry the pump? its a prety standard part i think, but all of the shops are saying my pump should be mounted on the block near the left of the carb. Mine is not? and its not aftermarket? so i was told. Does anyone know if this is stock for my truck or is Auto Zone right it should be on my block and it was rerounted? If it is an aftermarket pump, great! any suggestions on a new one? (brands) and if it is stock can any one send me a part number or something. Even some schematics would be amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks and have a great day.
are you sure that's your pump and not your tank selector valve.like Franklin said your pumps should be in your fuel tanks.that selector valve will have 6 lines going to it and some have a fuel filter attached to it.ford did this to alleviate vapor lock. mine is set up this way from the factory.if your not getting fuel there could be a number of reasons, ie your inertia switch, the oil pressure switch,or the reason i got mine cheap,a broken wire.keep us posted.
Mine was the same way, under the drivers side. It turned out that the switch where the 2 lined from the tanks meet, was clogged. I cut one of the fuel hoses and hooked it right up to the fuel pump. You should check that first before getting a new fuel pump, I wish I would have..
