missing. Wet??

okay so washed the truck sprayed off engine and stuff well it started missing i know i had a weak coil pack that when it got wet it would miss but never this bad. Well its been three days still ides rough. Missing badly at low rpms. The coil pack that was weak would kinda look damp but when it looked dry it would run fine well now all of them look just fine and dry but still a miss. Is there anything else that could be wrong to make it do this? What would help me clear this all up? Should i go see if any codes come up? SEL is always on due to a bad connection to my speed senser but who needs to know how fast your going. lol either way what should i do any help is very much appreciated.

recheck the codes. if it's misfiring, it should set a code. it may tell you which cylinder is misfiring. it may just be time to repalce that bad coil.

Make sure there is no water in the holes, this will also cause a miss. I just looked on ebay and there are some cops on there for about 70 plus shipping (if you have the 5.4). I replaced mine on my Expy and they cured my miss problem. Thats been 2 years ago and still no problems. If you have the 4.6, it will probably be best to replace the coil packs. Good luck!

indeed i would take off all the cops then blow out the holes with an air hose.how old are the rubber boots on your truck if they are old and cracked that can cause a miss i seen them at autozone for 3.99 each on sale right now so i told checkers for 5 percent more off.. hey every bit helps these days and if you buy new coils you have to buy the boots separate anyways...

yes i have the 4.6 also you can check the thread i had on here titled how do you check the coil packs there is a rubber boot connected the the bottom of the coil pack these go back and crack you can check it by simply squeezing it if it cracks when you squeeze it then they need to be replaced also whenever you replace the spark plugs its good to replace them.

okay so i started taking them off and testing today i have done six the last two on the drivers side is a PITA but 4 have been weak but not bad and one did have water down in the spark plug well. I had one boot the pretty much fell apart when i pulled it out the other has some cracks. but imma see if it will run close to right with that water cleaned out and if it will ill have to limp it along till i can get $400+ for all new packs and boots and die-electric grease. but we will see ill let ya know how it goes. long live the tough ol ford

You can get 8 COP's with boots on ebay as stated above for $100 or less. Might as well replace them all, once they get wet they are more or less done for.
