Toolbox

Did Ford ever make a toolbox to fit the drivers side like the passenger side box?

Thanks for the reply! I have one on the passenger side. Thought it would be cool to have one on the drivers side.

While Ford didn't offer one for the left side why wouldn't the one on the right side work on the left?

What's to stop it from doing so?

There's nothing on the inside of the left quarter panel at the front, unless you have an aftermarket saddle fuel tank.

Mine on the passenger side has an offset for the front spring hanger. I assumed one for the drivers side would need to be offset as well.

Are you speaking of the L shaped bracket that has two bolt holes on the top of it?

Why couldn't it be turned around and used on the other side?

You could also turn the tool box over, then mount it.

Mine has about a six inch inside corner at the back of the box. If placed on the drivers side the offset would be at the front. The offset allows the corner of the box to miss the spring hanger.
Thank y'all for your replies!

You both are correct...I have seen peeps who have done that but it looked weird...plus the doors hinged opposite and the latch would be upside down allowing water and whatever dirt and junk to get into the handle mechanism. As for welding/cutting the opposite corner for it to fit properly like on the RH side...the box itself is galvanized steel and the last I heard galvanized steel gives off some deadly fumes...

as I recall the interior part in its entirety...all that ive seen have been in really clean shape on the outside lower area...but if you get water sitting in them for umpteen years they do end up rotting out...stay tuned for some pics of some boxes ive got...

I"m not sure how to pvt message. I can on other boards, but maybe I have to post a certain number of times in order to be able to? Anyway, I dont know what they go for, but I'd like to get one of those boxes eventually.

Yep, the tool box is galvanized. I just painted up a replacement box for the one in my truck. The only thing rusted in that box was the hinges while the actual box showed water staining that I have seen on galvanized metal but no rust. Same metal that makes up the shower stalls inside the Hornet.
