I purchased some alloy wheels for my 2008 truck. I took the truck to the Ford service center. They agreed to switch out the wheels and balance them. Later in the day I received a call telling me they could salvage the sensors on the wheels, but the "straps" would need replacing at a high cost. They have ordered the straps. Can someone tell me the purpose of the straps and approximate cost?
Thank You,
Grayhawk
They're probably going to charge you about 300 bucks....theres no way to salvage the straps, and you're going to have to have them to hold the pressure sensors to the wheels.....Just no way around it
Next time....
Might I recommend a 3rd party supplier for straps... and other piece parts..
Maybe like:
Revolution supply company, MTF Equip., American Muscle
Could even talk to one of our forum sponsors for a possible better deal.

$60 for a set of four.
The Ford Service Center knew that your vehicle had TPMS before they started the work. Did they give you a price for the change over before they started? Make a deal to supply a set of straps. DO NOT LET THEM SCREW YOU. Show them the Revolution webpage and the cost of a set of straps and let them know that you will not be ripped off.
I have posted several times with info about the TPMS.
do you need to run winter tires? If so, leave the TPMS on your factory rims and leave them as your winters. Thats what I did. My light stays on, or flashes, or goes out but that will change in a few months when I put my winters back on.
afc2001...thanks for the suggestion. Your comment brings another question...the dealership said they could salvage the sensors, but the straps couldn't be. It seems the straps could be left in place with the sensors removed?

The sensors are also taped to the rims with some tape that will take 3 gorillas with a pry bar to remove!
I got my new bands from a Mustang site and paid $60 total, including free shipping!
If you look on ebay you can get sensors or bands for a lot less. i just didn't bother. New tires and summer driving i'm not worried about a flat. I know, famous last words!!!
