Post Setting the timing 10''

can any body tell me how at the factory how do they set the timing at
normally set at on my pulley there are numbers from 0 to 10 btc
because i do not get full power when i accelerate it does not move as fast
because i recently took out the distributor out put in new upper and lower
gaskets i had no choice but i set it at btc be fore i removed distributor
i think i made a mistake somewhere is there any right diagrams to look at on how to do it for my 92 van 302 5.0 e-150

make a chalk mark at 10-12' BTDC and use a timing light to set it to your timing mark on the block

The correct procedure is to start the motor and get it idling.
Pull the spout plug and point the timing light at the crank pulley.
Rotate the distributor until the pointer indicates 10 deg BTDC or maybe a little more.
Tighten the distributor bolt and check that it hasn't moved.
Reinstall the spout plug.
