Has anybody done one of these to there new 08 f250 yet. I dropped mine off at the dealer and they told me that my particulate filter was no good and missing.lol. I dont know how its missing. lol. Anyways the check engine light was on thats why i dropped it off. I have no warrenty on the truck. Is this a good route to go, will it smoke badly without it on. Im new to the diesel world. I would rather not buy a new one because they are very expensive.
There is the answer to all your problems. You can't take the DPF off and operate the truck without a tuner cutting the regeneration off. Truck will throw lights and go into a constant regen.
to run a dpf delete you gotta have a tuner, you can get a package between $850-$2000 that comes with tuner and dpf/cat delete pipe. the only people i've heard that smoke really bad are the spartan tuned trucks running the 275hp tune or custom tunes, none of the others i've seen smoke too bad. whats also good is you can do it yourself with simple tools, however i would recommend a new exhaust gas temp sensor behind dpf its only $75 dollars and its a PAIN to get out the old pipe.
well its just a option. I dont think the dealership knows what they are talking about. The person explaining it to me said it was gone. Its there, he just didnt know what he was talking about.
well he may have meant "gone" like usless and cant be fixed, i use the word gone in that context often. if ur truck is out of warranty its $3500 as u know. thats 3 grand to get crappy gas mileage smelly exhaust ugly looks less power and wasted fuel, when 1 grand will make ur truck a beast with good gas mileage, great power, and nice looking exhaust.

That's the best thing that could have happened to you, trust me, it's a blessing in disguise. You'd be crazy to put one of those engine chokers back on your truck. The main reason people hesitate to take them off is because of the whole warrantee issue, and you don't have that problem. I would HIGHLY recomend spartan, but there are other brands. Just make sure to do a little research before choosing a setup, there are many old threads on here about this subject. I'm sure you'll find that spartan has the best reputation. I have spartan on mine and love it, and it does only smoke on the 275 tune, but they have like 6 other tunes to choose from that don't smoke at all. If you choose to do this, no matter which company you choose, you will be amazed at what a huge difference it makes in the overall performance of your truck.
can you point me in that direction. Ya i got a quote today to get that fixed plus my steering box is ****. $3300. I about ****. Ill look into the spartan. why would it smoke on the 275, what does that mean.
the 275 hp is the nutty professor tune, its the most powerful tune out from spartan, it smokes for that reason most fuel most power. i'm goin with the edge racing tuner myself, not many folks have it and i wanna see what it will do i'm goin with 140hp tune however i dont wanna race mine or anything but i'm sure ill end up with the spartan because it tunes the transmission also and edge doesn't. www.spartandieseltech.com u can learn all ya need to know about the tuners and what they'll do for ya. they guys on these forums alot of times work for people like spartan, edge, mbrp, rudy'sperformance and stuff so just dont hesitate to ask around
Gone as in toast. I took it to mean gone as in missing. Listen to all the good advice above. Pay half the price the dealer just quoted you and get 30-40% better fuel economy and the power if you want it to outrun vettes and stangs from a tuner and delete pipe.
there is 24k miles on the truck. Me and my dad rebuilt the truck thats why there is no warrenty. I took it to the dealer because the clamp right in front of the muffler was broke and the check engine light was on. So... i took it to the dealer and the person who called me said i need a new particualte filter. I asked him if they put the clamp on and he told me they couldnt because the particulate filter was missing. I was dumb founded because i seen it on the truck when i was under there. so the person who called me had no clue.
Can't speak for anyone else, but as for me, I don't work for Spartan. I'm a carpenter who busts his a## for his money, so if I spend my money on something it better be worth it. The spartan wasn't cheap, so if I was in any way unsatisfied I would let you know. It was worth every single penny. Just be careful and do your research, alot of companies like edge offer tuners, but only a select few have the ***** to do dpf deletes. trdfirefighter is right to a point. From my experience, the only time it smokes is when you horse on it, and boy does it smoke! It's just dumping alot of fuel in to create alot of hp, but the 275 also has given me the best mpg. The lower tunes don't smoke though, just the 275 which is considered a race tune.
I think i may go with the edge. i can get it shipped next day to me for $475 and it comes with four settings and the pipe is anywhere from 200-375. The previous owner just cut it out and weled in a new pipe. Im going to make it right, but for now i have to drive it without the tuner so everyone pray that i dont mess up the truck.
