? slave cylinder
There are at least 2 cylinders for the clutch. One connected to the pedal(master) and the slave, usually on the bell housing.
If either one leaks, the pedal will go to the floor when you use it(fun, yes). It is easy to rebuild a cylinder and fairly cheap, IMHO. The slave cylinder rebuild is almost exactly like a brake drum cylinder.
If you got air in the system(cylinders, hoses etc) even if you refill, the pedal may not work right. Just like brakes you will need to bleed the clutch system.
A cylinder may not show obvious signs of leakage since the fluid is supposed to be clear, and since it is thin it drips or blows away fairly easily. Bleed and refill the system as a start. then have a buddy use the clutch while you inspect the cylinders and hosing. But first wipe them clean and dry so you can spot a leak. Naturally don't have the engine on. I do not know if Fords have a power assist, but I doubt it so there should not be a possibility of leakage into the assist.
Good Luck,
Jim Henderson
