New Shocks in 99 Explorer

I am putting new shocks in my 99 explorer, I have them aready, and my mechanically inclined friends are working today. I would like to get it done today is it something i can do myself?
Is there anything tricky i should know about putting in and taking out shocks?
Is there anywhere i can find a step by step guide without buying a book right now?

They are not too difficult to do. Use penetrating fluid to make the bolts easier to remove.

PB Blaster or similar will be your friend. The bolts can be rough to get out because of all the dirt and rust that tends to accumulate underneath. But it's not a hard job all in all.

Just make sure you have an 18mm, 15mm, 10mm for the rears, and I can't remember what you need for the fronts... but I know one was an 18mm. Drop the spare out from underneath before you start the rear... makes like a lot easier to get at the top bolts. Suggest that you install the bottom first, then cut the retaining wire allowing it to rise into position. A lot easier doing it that way versus trying to muscle them the other way.
