What is this?

I seems to be leaking a lot of oil and with the pics it has some description and drawings to show where it is. Essentially it is right under the oil pump.

Below are the pics so let me know if possible.

Can we change a couple names on the pictures?

First picture the oil pump is a vacuum pump.
Thing in question, inlet and outlet is your fuel lift pump, same as the fuel pump on a gasoline engine.
Some people/books call it a transfer pump, but it lifts/transfers fuel from the tanks to the injection pump.

Picture two, left port is from the tank selector valve, right port is out to the fuel filter.

And again in picture three, thing is under here, thing is lift pump, here is vacuum pump.

LMAO

Sorry, I work with 6 Smart A kind of guys and we were all together today.
But I had fun, can you tell?

LMAO again.

if the oil is leaking from the fuel pump then change the pump they do get lubricated with oil and have a diaphram that seperates the oil and it ruptures and leaks oil

Pkay there smart A$$! So if nothing is connected, will it just leak or is ot ok like it is, the rear or second tank is not connected. It could be that there is another seal leaking and it is just getting on there bit it looks to be coming out of there. Would this need to be connected? Just trying to figure out why it isnt hooked up..

p.s. did you see my message to you about the Stanadyne IP? Can you decipher the numbers on the IP to what year it goes to? and no smart a$$ answers!!! hahaha

So in the picture it is a "fuel" lift pump? if it isnt hooked up where would the lit pump be? frame mounted like later ones? I havent looked all over yet but if they just ook that one out of the equation, how can i shut it off because there is oil leaking from it, i suspect anyway. Can i take it off and bolt up a plate on there? Help please fellas!

All IDI trucks used that lift pump from the factory.

Frame mounted would be an electric pump installed by a previous owner.

My guess is either air intrusion or a ruptured diaphram in the stock pump is why it is not hooked up.

Big block Chevy fuel pump block off plate will fit to close off the hole.

AS for the IP number info, I seem to have lost a bunch of my info text files in my hard drive swap process.

I am not sure exactly where they are, or if I have accidently deleted them.

I am bummed right now about all I can't find.

On the hard drive...
Sorta

I am finding the files, slowly.

Where I am at exactly is after 20 plus years of records on computers, many failed hard drives and computer upgrades with information copied from one drive to the next.

I have files in to many places, and way to many duplicate files with "almost" the same information.

So right now I have moved everything from three IDE drives to an external USB drive, 500 gigs over 75% full.
New SATA 500 gig internal drive, almost empty.

Before I move anything, documents that are almost the same info are combined.
Web addresses that no longer work, deleted.
Web addresses that still work, sorted with a better system so I can find them easier.

Just a very long process, but will be much easier when I am done.

Where I am right now, wanna guess how many files I have to look through to find one in 350 gigs of data that is not sorted yet?

Sorry for the off topic stuff, but now everyone will know why I probably seem a little off with my answers if I can't remember the info in my head.

On the bright side,

Yup, Know what you mean, been there done that way to many times, it's a forever ending process.

Used to make a living doing exactly that... Cleaning, Organizing Corporate drives for some pretty huge companies. Data Management & Storage!

Thats why I asked, I've done a lot of recovery.

Yea, ... Uh Huh! Yur funny, Like ANYONE could have a clue...

I'll trade you any time ...
We have about 5TB of data scattered across about 6.5TB of drives! (Our Server, 6*ST31500341AS)

Have fun organizing it, It's imperative it's maintained in it's use!
