I want to say they both should be 6.5x8 or 139.1x8 from 1978-2004/5. I'm not a wheel guy, but I once did an app guide for a set of wheels and it covered pretty much everything in the last 3-4 decades.
You may have to check with someone familiar with the older axle, because of the housing change you will probably have to use the housing from the 98. The might be a carrier brake at 4.10 on the D70 like there is on the 60, if so, you may end having to use the 83 carrier. If the 83 carrier has a different spline count then you will also have to use the 83's axles and hope they are the same length.
We are beyond what I know, it's time for an axle expert.

Ok, well lets start all over again.
It turns out that ford put a D60 under my truck. With a V10.
I do not know why the hell that seemed like a good idea to them.
It will not work to swap the whole axle( VSS ). I know they are very close, is the housing the same? If it will work what I am thinking is I will put the 4.10 D70 diff. and axle shafts in the D60 housing with the VSS. Will it work?
