Need Help with my truck

I have a 2001 Lincoln Navigator and just yesterday it started dying whenever it was in drive or in reverse, or even when i come to a complete stop. It will stay on when in Park or Neutral and it raises RPMs whenever i give it some gas. but unless i change gears while the RPMs are high it will stall on me, anyone know what could be the problem ... and if they can walk me through trying to fix it ??????

I'm assuming you are not getting codes, if not mine did the same thing and actually would buck into gears and stall. Turns out it was the converter clutch in the transmission and I also did not get any codes. Don't know if this helps, really just a stab in the dark. Good luck!

have you changed the tranny fluid lately? this almost sounds like a torque converter stalling issue. Either that or the IAC is starting to go out?

Anyone else have a second opinoin?

no i havent actually, i need to see my fluids , ..... the truck actually moves if i rev hig enough and switch gears but when i come to a stop is when it dies on me, and i dont move it because i dont like how rough the gears sound when that happens...... ill change out my tranny fluid and c what happens but, is it possibe of it being some kind of sensor that isnt allowing it to feed it more gas?

Sounds exactly like what mine did when the IAC went out. Inexpensive part but a pain to get to. Easy job if you have small hands and LONG ARMS!

STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # AC253

$46 bucks. I am not a believer in "throwing parts" at something, but this is a 2 hour job that is cheap.

yeah i would start with the IAC also. Typical sensor that doesn't throw a code until it dies completely

Check the tranny fluid also. If it's had more than 60K miles it's due for a change. Also, if it smells burnt, that's another indicator.
