97 4.6 engine swap
Hi I am trying to swap out the engine in my 97 truck for one out of a 98 . It is identical I believe.I have everything unbolted and want to know if I now need to remove the 5spd transmission, driveshafts and t case or if it should slide out like my hanes manual says. Ant advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

You should unbolt the tranny mount and place a wood block and jack under the tranny pan..Then use tranny jack and engine hoist together and raise them,just slightly enough to seperate the two.This will also assist when installing it..Good luck

Thanks for the advice I appreciate it. Do you mean to slightly lower the tranny as I raise the engine as the trans is almost touching the floorboards? I got ahold of a tranny jack this afternoon and got everything undone except the crossmember. The jack is in place. Tomorrow after work I will attempt to separate the two of them. Never thought to try and raise the trans but there is a bit of room will try that thanks again
