manual to automatic????
I just got rid of my '68 F100 running 44's with a c6 and 6.50's in the rear 9".I got really used to an auto tranny when that high up. Now, my neighbor gave me this '84 F150 with an I6, 300, and 3 on the tree manual tranny. I put 38's on it with a kit, but i dont want a manual tranny. Can i swap it for a C4? What I am getting at is which tranny is the closest to "bolt-on".I realize its harder than it sounds.Coming across parts is not a problem, by the way.

Anything that will bolt up to a small block V8 will bolt up behind a 300, a small block C-6 would be best. You may also have to change the steering column, the tranny's detents alone may not be enough to hold it in gear with any kind of wheelin goin on.

it will be an "around the town" truck only though.No wheelin with this truck. I will leave that up to another one. This is just to make the neighbors worry a little about parking too close.lol.
