How can I determine what model transmission I have?
What I know..
1978 F-150 4x4, NP205 transfer case
4sp with granny gear
Top Loader
Top cover has a logo of a gear, inside the gear is a N and a P that share the one leg on the N
Plate welded to size has C96391
Another tag has 6+5 on it.
Any Help would be appricaited

I have two gears that are trashed, the largest gear in the case and the little one on the side that the big one engages with for reverse. Know any place that might sell them? The local trany shops around here are reluntant to help.

That's exactly what my Mazda M5OD did. That is why I'm putting in the NP435. Try this place, they might have what you are looking for:

Go to www.standardtransmissionandgear and e-mail Mike P from the site. His willingness to share experience (std. trans is a rebuilder as well as a parts distributor)was worth the price of admission, which was dirt-cheap to boot. I bought both 435 and 205 kits off Mike P. when I overhauled my projects.
I was debating replacing that reverse idler gear you're posting about, and they had some good used.
