C6 Vacume Modulator ?

Could a fault in the Vacume modulator be preventing the trans from shifting into 2nd and third gears? 1st and 2nd works fine if mannualy shifted..

Yes it can. Pull the hose off at the mobulator and see if any fluid is in the line. If so replace the modulator. Also check to see that your detent linkage is not stuck in the down position.

C6 Vacume Modulator ?

I didn't notice any fluid in the line. But I'm thinking about replacing the modulator any how. What does a Vacume Modulator do? I lost third gear going through the mountains in PA. I had it shifting from 1st to 2nd but now it just stays in 1st unless I shift it to 2nd mannualy.

When you say detent cable do you mean the TV rod linkage?

Please help I would hate to have to pull the trans.......
