New Florida Fees

The increase takes effect 9-1-2009 8,000 to 9000 lb truck went from $88.10 a year to $128.65 a year for a tag. And if you get a new plate its $28.00 more. They are allowing you to get a 2 year tag, before 9-1-09 at the old rate. Drivers license went fro 25 to 54 bucks for a class E and from 72 to 81 for a cdl Check with your local tax collectors office. If you have several vehicles, trailers, campers, boats, motorcycles ect you could save a bunch of money by renewing for two years at the old rate.

I am even more thankful that the lady at the tag office listed my truck as 7990 and I got a new 8 year license this year.

Don't live in Florida...but why would they raise them so much? Good thing I live in OH...that $200 yearly fee for my truck would really **** me off....

When they couldn't sell housing developments hand over fist to transplants, the state started going broke. Our county was the fastest growing, now it's the most unemployed.

It costs over $175 for my 06 F150, which was about the same price as my 05 SD in Indiana. Between the wife's car, the car trailer, the truck, and my old beater Taurus it costs me $500 a year in Indiana. And that's for a 7000 lb plate for the truck and trailer.

Talk like that will get you a visit from home land security. Don't become a terrorist like everyone who doesn't like big government or our current administration.

Complete with black helicopters?

Even with the increases Florida is still cheaper than Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. Alabama and Mississippi have personal property taxes on top of license fees. Florida does not. I am nor sure what the Georgia situation is.
