Last night my 2003 F350 was doing something weird. When I would open the door, the interior lights would not come on...and there was a clicking sound coming from the dash up near the windshield slightly to the driver's side. Sounded like something was just clicking on, then off, then on, then off.
Next morning, clicking sound was gone, and the interior lights came on when I opened the door. Weird. Any ideas what it might be? Thanks!
Thanks Chris. I thought the same thing. I checked the connections and they are all very clean and good. I also restarted the truck, and it started right up that night...batteries turned the engine over quick. I then put my battery charger on it, and the readings I got on both batteries were good. So I'm not sure what the heck it is. It was like some sort of relay clicking on and off.
It could be a relay that is getting old and they will get hot and then will not hold closed. It will keep trying to close and then open thus the clicking.
I had a similar problem but mine was fuse related. On the 10 amp fuse for the dome light and windows I had used a fuse tap a long time ago and when I removed it, the fuse wouldnt properly seat in there and it would bounce around and cause intermittent window usage and a clicky sound. Could be the relay going bad too...
