yup.. part of why i joined... would rather talk to people who have, and know their trucks.. than reading one sided arguments in articles about the vehicles from "magazines"....

and yes im one of those people who believes magazines and others slant their "studies" to whoever paid them to do it or funds their company corporately...

It's coffee time ! Shawn, lots of pros and cons on diesel vs gas. I still don't know why diesel fuel is higher than gas in most areas. (it has dropped to about $.04 lower than gas around here). Nice choice of truck. I was thinking about a crew cab single rears but, it would be way more than I paid for my house.

Ive heard that the bottom end needs to be built for any type of fi and that the heads are hard to make much power out of in there stock form. Not sure if this is at all true. I'm refering to the early 2000s with the 2 valve motor

depends on how aggressive you want to get with it really... the cobras bottom ends are already built with forged internals.. (along with any of the other mustang models that come stock with FAI on them...) the v6's can actually take quite a bit of pounding... my model yr.. can safely handle 11psi of boost.. gt's ive heard 8... but i wouldnt be surprised if they could handle 11 as well on their stock platform... now the s197's.. their v6's a totally different monster... they can handle up to 16psi on their stock engine provided you run race gas in them... and they will make 10 sec runs on their stock platform with that...

as far as the heads go.. it depends on which model yr in the sn95 model yr you want to talk about... early sn's yeah they did have terrible heads.. the 99-04's had the better heads on them..

youll have to find a gt guy though to find out why theyre so much better... ive never really paid much attention to the v8's personally... ive just picked up a tidbit here and there... im more of a v6 guy personally... can tell ya thought those modular engines are "easier" to change the cams on since they sit right on top of the heads.. where mines in the center of the block.. (where it belongs imo...lol ) 04 was the last yr the v6 mustangs had pushrods... now all the mustangs are ohc...

so long as you get the timing marks lined up the cams on a modular are pretty much the easiest things to do imo... now i dunno if its true or not... but ive heard the s197's are 3 valves where the base sn gt's for 99-04 were still 2v...

know the feeling... i originally wanted to turn my jezebel into a pure performer pushing 20psi through her engine... but think when i do build her im gonna go a little tamer... after all shes kind of a rare stang really.. 04 was the only yr to carry the 3.9L v6.. so im still trying to decide if i want to stroke her out to a 4.3L or not...
