I have a 2000 F250 V10 Automatic Tranny w/ 4x4 Manual Shift.
(1) TRANNY
What is the type of tranny fluid?
How many quart?
Is there a drain plug?
Is there a filter?
I want to change the tranny fluid. Can I put in a pump tube through the dipstick and simply suck out the tranny fluid and replace the tranny fluid the same way?
(2) AXLE FLUID
What type of gear fluid/grease?
Is there a drain plug? fill plug?
(3) TRANSFER CASE FLUID
What type of gear fluid/grease?
Is there a drain plug? fill plug?
Thanks.
If there is a tech section here with the details. Please link me. I can not find it.
Look in the Tech folder at the top of the Super Duty and Heavy Duty page. If you scroll down past all the info about decoding VINs you should get some answers to your questions.
The axle fluid change links was very informative. However I am not quite mechanically ready to pull the cover off. How much fluid do you think I could extract from the fill hole with a pump?
As for the Tranny and Transfer Case. Drain plug was easy to locate. I will get that handle tomorrow.
BTW. How many quart of Mercon V does the transfer case hold?
Also. How many quart of 5w30 oil does the engine hold.
Regarding the tranny fluid. Does the pan have to come off? There is a bolt on the bottom of the pan - however that bolt just spins and spins. both clockwise and counter clockwise. looks like it is some kind of special bolt with some kind of permanent rubber washer.
Just drain the fluid with the bolt. The only time you should need to remove the pan is if you suspect a problem, other than just a fluid replacement. If you do drop the pan, I believe they have a rubber re-usable gasket. Synthetic fluid would be the way to go.

Didn't read the whole post. It looks like you need to drop the pan. The bolt must be stripped.
If the proper way is to drain from the bolt. Then that means the bolt is completely gone - as in it will turn forever in either direction. The good thing is it is not leaking whatsoever and it is still very very snug.
For now - I think I am just gonna pump out whatever I can and then refill. Once I get back from my holiday trip then I will drop the pan for further inspection.

As stated above, if it still has a factory torque converter in it, they have a drain plug in them too. You might want to drain that as well.
