I'm pulling the front end apart on my truck for suspension, u-joint, wheel bearing repack work and pulling my front diff as well.
I'm thinking of pulling the diff to change the oil and to put in a limited slip in it. What i'm looking at is a clutch type limiter. The part is $650 and $100 for the install. I kinda want to stay clear of air and electric lock for the reason that i for some reason have the ability to rip/break stuff when I go in the bush or drive through 2-3 feet of snow. I also like the drivability of a limited slip and the supplier says he has installed these without comebacks or complaints.
I have not baught this thing yet nore do I have the diff out yet. Is there any thaughts out there against this idea of mine before I go ahead with this.
Also, I'm not rock crawling with this thing, my truck is just a dually. I only want snow traction for the most part.
In a lot of ways, the posi up front is more beneficial than in the back. When the back end slides on both sides, the front end swings downhill on even the slightest slop. The front end will slip too, but you have the ability to counter steer and pull the front end where you want to go.
