I am thinking of putting either air bags or Timbren on my Ex. I tow a 30' travel trailer thta is about 8000 lbs. I currently run a equilizer hitch. With all the stuff we pack in the back of the truck it sits low. I travel a few thousand miles a year. And experience with either set up? Pro vs Cons. Thanks
You should also do a search for Roadmaster Active Suspension or RAS...
I tow a 9000# TT with 1100-1200#'s of tongue weight (depending on how much fresh water I haul)...I have the RAS and use a WD hitch with 1400# bars (how heavy is your tongue weight and what size WD bars are you running)?
Anyway...I couldn't be happier with my rear end setup with the RAS...
Have you actually been to a scale yet to determine if your WD setup is done right?...if not...you may be surprised...
When I hauled my 7500# TT around...I had a dual cam hitch with 1200# WD bars...I was able to level out my Ex very nicely withOUT the RAS...but I also only had around 900#'s of tongue weight...
X- I am from the Detroit area, I have about 800lbs tongue weight. w/o fresh water. I have an equilzer hitch don't rememberwhat size it is but I know it is big enough.
I have no experience with air bags but will second the RAS recommendation. I bought mine on Ebay for 80 bucks delivered to my door. Took about 2-3 hours to install by myself. Added the Helwig sway bar also. My TT is +9000lbs with 1250+ tongue weight. Listen to Joe, he knows how to set up an Ex.
