replacement wiring harness 51 vs 48-50??
I see that the 48-50 trucks use the same Harness and then 51 has a different part number, as does the 52? (Dennis Carpenter)
does anyone know exactly what the difference would be? I have a 51 F1 but found a deal on one for a 48-50 and don't want to buy it just because its a good deal and not be able to use it>
Thanks
Josh

Well, theoretically from a signal flow standpoint, the only differences should be that the 48-50 has a seperate wire that goes down to an outside switch for the instrument lights. Where as the instrument lights are part of the 51/52 headlight switch. Also the 51/52 harness will have turn signal indicator wires going up to the dash and provisions for a column mounted turn signal switch (which btw may include provision for a second tail light). Other than that, the components and electrical set up is the same.
Things are arranged a little differently - ie, instruments and circuit breakers, but not so much that it should make a difference. I'm not sure if the wire colors are the same between models.
The 52 harness is different because it is adjusted to accomodate the 215 OHV 6 cyl.
You shouldn't have any problems with the 48-50 harness in your 51 truck from the standpoint of hooking everything up. You may have to make a very few (like less than 3 or 4) adaptations.
