'95 transmission problem
We have a 1995 F-150 4x4 with automatic transmission, model 4R70W (AODE). My son just drove it home, and on the way it started slipping. When we checked under the vehicle, all the ATF had blown out from somewhere, and was all over the underside. With just a visual inspection, we could not determine where it got out. Any ideas, and if so do you think there will be damage? Is it something we may be able to fix ourselves? Have not done anything with it, as no garage will be able to look at it for several days. Were you towing anything, going through big hills, really hot weather? It is possible that your tranny overheated under strain and blew the fluid out through the filler tube. Doesn't sound like your problem but maybe.
Other areas to check are the pan gasket(easy to replace)also check if there is a lot of fluid in the bell housing(Bad seal).
